Cambridge residents turned out yesterday to see a weird but delicious prize won by their town: life-size chocolate statues of two radio hosts.
MoreFM says more than 500 people went to the Cambridge Town Hall to see the statues of Lana Searle and Jason Gunn, which were made with the help of Weta Workshop.
The MediaWorks station says Cambridge was chosen from more than 130 contestants in which towns had to explain why they deserved two statues crafted from 200kg of chocolate.
"We hadn’t seen the statues until they were unveiled – the crowd saw it when we saw it – and it was incredible. Mine was a lot taller than me, while Lana’s was the perfect height," Jason said.
The statues stood for a while to be admired before being smashed to pieces and devoured.
"We were worried it would be waxy and not taste right, but it was good chocolate," Lana said.
