Garry Shandling's doctor is reportedly refusing to sign his death certificate, triggering a coroner's investigation into how he died.
The actor and comedian star died unexpectedly on Thursday (local time), after being taken to the St John's Health Center in Los Angeles.
A source close to Shandling insists he appeared to be in the best of health hours before his death.
Though it has been reported that he died from a massive heart attack, his doctor, who has not been named, claims he has no idea why or how the patient died. The doctor insists Shandling was in good health, despite not examining him in more than a year.
TMZ reports the 66-year-old Larry Sanders Show star had been experiencing shortness of breath and aches during the week, before calling emergency services himself and falling unconscious while on the phone to them.
He never married and has no children.
