New Brighton Pier glows green for St Patrick's

This week dozens of landmarks around the world are going green for the St Patrick's Day Global Greening.

The New Brighton Pier in Christchurch is one of the locations being lit up in emerald.

Irish comedian Brendon O'Carroll, better known as Mrs Brown from Mrs Brown's Boys, was on hand to add a touch of authenticity, celebrity and colour to the event.

O'Carroll was in town ahead of his stage show Good Mourning Mrs Brown, which will be on in Christchurch next week.

More than 150 other famous spots will be turning green this week, including the London Eye, the Welcome sign in Las Vegas and Christ the Redeemer in Rio.
