Rapper Snoop Dogg is to be inducted into World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) Hall of Fame this coming weekend.

The 'Gz Up, Hoes Down' hitmaker is the first musician to be honoured by the hall's celebrity wing, joining an alumni that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mike Tyson, Mr T and Donald Trump.

The Doggfather will be inducted alongside The Godfather, Sting, The Big Boss Man, Stan Hansen, Jacqueline and the Fabulous Freebirds in Dallas on Saturday night (local time).

"Snoop is an avid member of the WWE Universe, and has even joined WWE's Superstars and Divas to create several memorable moments," says the WWE on its website.

"He brought his unique flair to WrestleMania XXIV (2008) in Orlando, where he served as the Master of Ceremonies for what could only be described as a unique Lumberjill Match between Divas Maria & Ashley and Melina & Beth Phoenix. Coming to the ring in a custom Mercedes-Benz cart, Snoop led the Lumberjills to the squared circle and introduced the competitors in his inimitable fashion. Later, when Santino Marella tried to confront his ex-girlfriend Maria after the battle, Snoop levelled The Milan Miracle with a clothesline, then shared a smooch with the beautiful Diva."

Snoop also hosted a Raw episode in 2009 and is the cousin of WWE star Sasha Banks.

The hip-hop legend, who changed his name briefly to Snoop Lion, responded to the announcement with a tweet celebrating the realness of both himself and the WWE.
