The Bachelor NZ, not what the doctor ordered

Season two of The Bachelor NZ is now in full swing, with only 17 of the original 23 bachelorettes still in contention for Jordan Mauger's heart.

Yesterday, 32-year-old Lindsey from South Carolina failed to receive a rose at the end of the night and was asked to leave the mansion.

A doctor by trade, Lindsey says she initially signed up to The Bachelor NZ because it was unlike anything she had done before, and her friends thought it would be funny to see her on the show.

"My girlfriends kind of put me forward for it; it was something outside of my comfort zone -- something that I wouldn't normally do. I don't wear a lot of make-up, I don't get dressed up, I don't get my hair done. I think, they just thought it would be something funny to see me on."

Lindsey says while she and Mauger initially had some physical attraction to each other, the chemistry never amounted to anything more.

"When we spoke, I guess he probably had other girls on his mind? He just didn't seem engaged when I was talking with him, and everybody wants somebody that is interested and wants to get to know you."

In fact, Lindsey says Mauger isn't even the type of man she would usually go for outside of such an environment.

So, with that in mind, she says the hardest part of leaving the mansion was knowing she had to leave the other girls behind.

"We were all great friends -- we got along super well, we had a pool in the mansion. So it was just swimming a couple of laps and getting a tan, and chatting about this boy that you're dating -- it just happened to be that we were all dating the same one.

"I am definitely going to miss all the girls. I mean, an experience like that, where you are together 24/7 -- it is something that you wouldn't normally do -- you bond so quickly, and I imagine we'll be friends for life."

Her picks to win the competition? There are two she'd like to see come out on top.

"I think maybe Storm, but I really like Fleur."

The Bachelor NZ airs on TV3 every Monday and Tuesday from 7:30pm.
