Bono calls for comedians to fight IS

U2 singer Bono has suggested sending Amy Schumer, Chris Rock and Sacha Baron Cohen to deal with Islamic State.

Speaking at a senate subcommittee in Washington DC, Bono called on members to put away the bombs and fight extremist groups with comedy.

"It's like, you speak violence, you speak their language. But you laugh at them, when they're goose-stepping down the street, and it takes away their power," Bono said.

"So, I'm suggesting that the Senate send in Amy Schumer, and Chris Rock, and Sacha Baron Cohen, thank you."

There's no word yet on whether the suggested comedians are willing to participate.
