It could be the biggest day out ever.

According to the LA Times, organisers of the Coachella music festival are putting together a gig featuring Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd's Rogers Waters.

The show's set for October, the paper reports, and will feature full-length sets from each artist. The first night will feature Dylan and the Stones, the next night the Who and McCartney, followed by Young and Waters on the third.

If it happens, it surprisingly will be the first time Dylan and Paul McCartney have played on the same bill. All six artists got their starts in the 1960s.

It's rumoured each will get US$7 million for their efforts.
