The Bachelor NZ exit interview: Ceri

She's one of two The Bachelor finalists to not kiss Jordan Mauger, but doesn't regret it, despite confessing she was planning to earlier in her final episode.

The eight-year age gap between Ceri McVinnie and Jordan may have been the end of the line for the pair. When asked about wanting children, Ceri was taken aback and didn't really know how to answer.

She said: "Rejection doesn't feel good, especially when I tried to open up… I do think Jordan's made a mistake, but I hope he finds what he's looking for."

The 24-year-old said she applied to enter The Bachelor along with her sister.

"My sister was super excited for me -- she actually was in the process of entering too but didn't finish her application. My parents were a little but hesitant but they came around. They just want me to be happy."

Ceri says she entered because she's been pretty "unlucky" in previous relationships. It was revealed earlier in the season that one of those previous relationships was abusive.

She has no qualms about going public about that experience, and is even an ambassador for Women's Refuge.

"There's such a stigma around domestic violence, but I'm pretty open about it. The more we talk about it, the more awareness we generate.

"It's part of my past, and I was just trying to be open and honest with Jordan -- it was always going to be something I was going to talk about."

The former Miss Tourism New Zealand isn't new to the spotlight, but says she wasn't expecting to be recognised on the street.

"I've been recognised quite a lot... The first people to recognise me were actually Art and Matilda [from last year's The Bachelor] at the supermarket."

Though initially upset to leave, she said was ready to go home.

"When we got to Australia, I was just really struggling. I was missing my family. It was a long time to have been away."

In one of their last episodes, she said she was "disappointed" in Jordan for not spending enough time with her.

"I think what people need to realise that you're pretty much just in the house when you're not on a date -- and I seemed to be the one who was going the longest between dates and I wasn't coping well in captivity."

She was an early pick for fans. Now there are only five girls left, Ceri has made her prediction.

"I think it's going to come down to Fleur and Gabs."
