Meet The Bachelor NZ, Jordan Mauger

From watching season one, to being egged on to enter by friends, Jordan Mauger didn’t expect to find himself with a sushi-train of attractive, single women before his eyes.

"I didn't think I'd fit the mould, but after talking out the pros and cons, it became quite appealing."

After applying, he didn't think he'd make it, and when told he was shortlisted, he thought he was just there to make up numbers.

So when he got the call to say he was the guy, he was surprised to say the least.

"I was like 'get off the grass! You're joking, right?' and it took a week or two for it to really sink in."

The 32-year-old probably wasn't sure what he was getting himself into, as each of the different girls' personalities wooed him over in different ways.

Over the weeks, as the girls formed a strong bond with one another in the house, Jordan tried to catch some shut eye between dates, cocktail parties and rose ceremonies.

"I was almost like the co-star of the show, and the girls were the stars. I was a warm prop who came in a tuxedo."

And with each rose ceremony, he had to say goodbye to one, sometimes two, girls.

"Someone has to go home. I would've liked some people to stay on longer to get to know them, it is so fast, you sometimes only have one or two days with them but that's the process, someone has to go home."

But despite the slew of 24 women he had to date, he was no stranger to intimacy.

It wasn't all smooth sailing, particularly when it came to the kissing moments.

"It's awkward to start with, but it became very natural later on. When it was the first kiss for somebody and they weren't used of the surroundings there were a few awkward moments."

This isn't Jordan's first run-in with a Bachelor contestant however.

The Bachelor NZ season one contestant Chrystal Chenery has been slowly leaking photographs on her social media pages which feature a much heavier Jordan.

He said they had a bit of a whirlwind romance when they both lived in Christchurch

"We met and it started with a hiss and a roar and I think with both our adventurous attitudes to life we got along really well. We travelled overseas very soon after that.

"I think the excitement and the adventure got the better of us and we were like 'whoa, this has happened really intense really fast.'"

They two remain good friends, and Jordan has a keen interest in seeing what she gets up to and what she will do in the future.
