Disney's Zootopia is funny and light-hearted tale about a rabbit and a fox teaming up to save the day -- but a deleted scene has emerged that wasn't nearly as cheery.
In the critically acclaimed 2016 film, animals have evolved beyond their instincts and no longer eat their natural prey. It also addresses social issues in a subtle way.
But in an earlier version that evolutionary advance was not gradually learnt but forced into the animal civilisation.
The depressing spin in the clip, that never made the final cut, shows a "taming party" where animals of age receive their first shock collar that suppresses their normal dispositions.
This idea of having a ritualised punishment in order to become a part of society feels too dark for Disney. It seems they thought so too.
