Assembled in Los Angeles in 1965 for a television series, The Monkees were a smash hit with their magic mix of musical styles.
Now, 50 years later, The Monkees' anniversary show is coming to New Zealand. After sellout North American shows, and with a brand new album in the charts, Monkees members Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork have announced concerts in Auckland and Christchurch at the end of November.
Their list of smash hits includes 'Last Train to Clarksville', 'Daydream Believer', 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' and 'I'm a Believer'.
Their new show features all of The Monkees' hits, plus an intimate acoustic set and solo spots for each of the singers.
Mr Dolenz, 71, says he is looking forward to returning to New Zealand, as his last visit was in the 1980s. Tickets go on sale later this week.
