A video has emerged of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor smacking the phone out of a fan's hand during a recent show.

Fans later questioned the star about it on Twitter, to which he replied: "If you're going to text stay home."

Taylor told tweeters that the fan with the phone immediately understood his faux pas.

"Right on man. It's actually funny- afterward, the dude TOTALLY understood the f**k up and we laughed together haha," he wrote on the social media platform.

But one fan wanted further clarification, chiming in with parental reasoning.

"With all due respect, I always send a few texts when I'm at a show, checking in to see how my daughter is going."

In a 2014 radio interview Taylor ranted about the annoyance he feels when he sees people with their faces glued to their phones.

"People need to unplug and realize that they're missing their lives, dude. It's sad. And that may be me just being an old jerk, but I don't care. I don't care. Truth is truth; it doesn't matter what age you're at."
