Dick Van Dyke, the actor known for his golden voice in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has charmed a crowd having breakfast at Denny's in Santa Monica, California.

The 90-year-old stage and screen legend, who played hero Caractacus Potts in the classic film, broke into a rendition of the main tune 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', with the help of his a capella singers, the Vantastix.

The charming moment was caught on video and uploaded to YouTube, where it has quickly gained thousands of views.

Van Dyke shared the video on his Facebook page on Saturday, writing: "Breakfast at Denny's, with a side of grits makes me want to sing!!"

The prolific entertainer was also a star in Bye Bye Birdie and Mary Poppins in the 1960s, and more recently in the three Night at the Museum films.

According to E Online, plans are underway for Van Dyke to appear in the new filming of Mary Poppins.
