Ann Coulter unhappy with brutal Comedy Central roasting

Ann Coulter gets stung on Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe (Comedy Central)

Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter has lashed out at Comedy Central after the network aired footage of comedians ripping into her during a special broadcast.

The jokes were made at an event that was supposed to focus on ridiculing Rob Lowe - the actor noted for his good looks and 1988 sex tape scandal involving an underage girl - but instead became memorable over its jibes at the Fox News regular.

Coulter, a far-right Christian extremist and Donald Trump supporter, is infamous for making offensive statements. Perhaps her most well-known quote is her view on how the US should treat the Middle East: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity".

But she didn't like getting a taste of her own medicine as comedians turned the tables and directed offensive statements at her during the Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe.

"Ann Coulter is one of the most repugnant, hateful, hatchet-faced bitches alive. But it's not too late to change, Ann. You could kill yourself," stated Jimmy Carr seriously while looking directly at her from just metres away.

In a follow-up interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Coulter says the jokes weren't funny and that they signified Comedy Central's "corporate decision to move away from comedy".

"I'm sure there are lots of funny jokes about people dying. These weren't those," she says.

Coulter appeared on the show while promoting her latest book In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!. She says she doesn't know any of the people who ridiculed her and also believes her own jokes were edited down by Comedy Central to appear less funny.

"I don't know how they edited it, but I know I got laughs when I was there," she says.

"They didn't seem to be wanting to do me any favours and you can do a lot in film editing. But yeah, I wish they'd just wish they'd run the whole roast straight without their editing."

But despite being called a "c**t", being compared to a horse, a transvestite prostitute and a scarecrow, being mocked for not having a husband and several comments about her racism and alleged association with the KKK, Coulter claims none of it actually got to her.

"Nothing offends me. 'Bored me' is a different story," she says.

"People are too thin-skinned. My only rule about a joke is that it should be funny."

The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe was broadcast in the US on Monday (local time).
