The much-anticipated ASB Waterfront Theatre in Auckland's Wynyard Quarter officially opened on Thursday night.
A light installation called 'Light Matrix', measuring two-and-a-half stories tall and by artist Leo Villareal, has been switched on to mark the occasion.
The 660-seat venue is the new home of the Auckland Theatre Company - and features a bar and gallery space.
The theatre's first show will be a production of Billy Elliot: The Musical, beginning October 7.
