Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has vocalised her support for a Mark Ruffalo nude scene after it was promised in a star-studded video that encouraged Americans to vote for her.

The video, created by Avengers writer and director Joss Whedon, features a "s**t-ton" of celebrities encouraging Americans to vote on November 8 - and to ensure it's not for Republican nominee Donald Trump.

In the video, celebrities including Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr and Stanley Tucci stress the importance of voting wisely, and finish with the promise that Mark Ruffalo will "get his d*** out" in his next movie.

Despite Mr Ruffalo's obvious reluctance, the celebrities finish the video promising the nude scene and calling for viewers to register to vote.

Ms Clinton told People magazine she supported the message - and the promise involved.

"For the record, I was planning to vote anyway. That said, Mark's a true patriot - I'm sure he won't let America down."

The video promising "full Marky" was published as part of Joss Whedon's new super political action committee (PAC), Save the Day.

No candidate is mentioned in the video, but an aversion to Trump is heavily implied, as Don Cheadle warns against "a racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society."

"Do we want to give nuclear weapons to a man whose signature move is firing things?" asks Leslie Odom Jr.

Joss Whedon announced the super PAC on his twitter, joking that "the world is on fire".
