Jono and Ben to host Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards

There's no VMAs without Kanye, no Emmys without Game of Thrones and this year, there is no Vodafone Music Awards (VNZMAs) without Jono and Ben.

Friday night favourites Jono Pryor and Ben Boyce are the hosts of the 51st Annual Vodafone Music Awards.

The boys are promising an "extravaganza of entertainment" both live at Vector Arena and on your television screens on November 17.

And when it comes to their hit-list, Lorde should probably watch out.

"Any celebrities we want to prank? Lorde. Lorde needs a good pranking," Jono says.

"No she doesn't! The backbone of the New Zealand economy is basically on Lorde so let's just leave her be," Ben argues.

Rumours are also swirling a certain Kiwi rock star will be sure to make the night memorable.

"I've actually organised Dave Dobbyn to come up and make quite a controversial speech saying Bic Runga had the greatest video of all time," Jono says.

Of course, it wouldn't be a true awards ceremony without a crazy outfit or two.

"Everyone always looks amazing at these things don't they - like the meat dress [Lady] Gaga wore that year to the VMAs was quite nice," Jono says.

"Like a pork sausage suit from the Mad Butcher."

"We'll get that made closer to the time so it doesn't stink as much," Ben quips.

Tickets are available on Ticketmaster from October 10, with general admission costing $25. The awards will also be broadcast live on TV3.

Finalists for the VNZMAs will be announced on October 13.
