Breakthrough hip-hop artist Desiigner could see his time in the limelight cut short after he was arrested on three felony charges.
The 19-year-old was detained in New York on Thursday night (local time) for 'menacing' and criminal possession of a loaded weapon and a controlled substance.
TMZ reports that Desiigner and four friends were involved in a road rage incident with occupants of another vehicle, before the rapper allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the other car's driver.
After receiving a call about the incident, police tracked down the car Desiigner was in and found a large amount of Oxycontin - a prescription drug used recreationally to achieve feelings of euphoria and relaxation - as well as other drugs.
The five occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody on drugs charges, while Desiigner received charges for possessing a weapon and for menacing, as a result of him being accused of pointing his firearm at another person.
Desiigner rose to prominence for his debut hit 'Panda' which, under the tutelage of mentor Kanye West, went to the top of the US charts in April this year.
