The Rusty Home on Grand Designs New Zealand

The latest home showcased on Grand Designs NZ was Steve Wilson and Wendy Grell's rusty weathering steel covered Northland bay abode.

Their vision was to build an architectural showpiece with angled walls and rooflines, but they wanted it to blend into a rural and unassuming seaside community.

"Steve and Wendy's home is a complex architectural dream realised," says host Chris Moller.

"The weathered steel and off-set angles give it a charming informality."
