With ticket sales opening tomorrow around the world - and less than a month left to wait - Star Wars fans have been given their final glimpse at upcoming spinoff Rogue One.

Opening in New Zealand on December 15, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set prior to the events of the original Star Wars, 1977's A New Hope. It focuses on the Rebel mission to steal the Death Star schematics from the hands of the ever-powerful Galactic Empire.

The latest trailer, subtitled 'Truth', shows a mix of previously seen and brand new footage from the yet-to-be released blockbuster.

In particular, the teaser showcases more of Alan Tudyk's K-S20 - a droid who is set to steal hearts, much like fan-favourites BB-8 and R2-D2.

The trailer also gives another fleeting glimpse at returning villain Darth Vader, whose limited role in the film has created significant hype.

Helmed by Godzilla director Gareth Edwards, Rogue One is expected to dominate the summer blockbuster season. Early box office projections suggest it could rack up US$150 million in its opening weekend alone.

This would make it the second-highest US opening weekend debut for any film - behind last year's Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, which opened to US$248 million.
