Today's radio survey results show MediaWorks remains the most popular radio network in New Zealand, reaching 2,208,900 listeners every week across its nine radio brands - an increase of 59,100 from the previous survey.
MediaWorks stations have 53.1 percent of the listening audience - 17.4 percentage points ahead of the group's closest competitor.
"We've got more people tuning in that ever before and listening longer to MediaWorks stations. We've got the top five music stations in the country," says Mediaworks' music radio content director Leon Wratt.
"We've got fantastic personalities that obviously resonate with a lot of New Zealanders. People know exactly what they're tuning in for every day. We've been consistently doing it for a long period of time. The results are just an outcome of that consistency and creating good radio that people want to listen to."
With a new, record high of 1,510,000 listeners between 6am and 9am, and 53.5 percent of the total listening audience, MediaWorks has continued to grow in the critical breakfast timeslot by 60,700 listeners.
Key commercial demographics were given a similar boost and cemented the group's position as the home of 25-54 audience, with MediaWorks growing 25-54 network share to 58.7 percent, widening the gap with its nearest commercial competitor to 27.4 percentage points.
In that demographic, MediaWorks has the top five music stations nationwide: The Rock, More FM, The Edge, The Sound and The Breeze.
Looking ahead, MediaWorks has announced a digital audio streaming platform to launch in 2017.
"We're about to launch a new listening app and platform that will bring together all our radio brands for the first time, offering New Zealanders another way to listen to our music stations," says Mr Wratt.
"That's something we're hugely looking forward to in 2017. We need to continue to reach the audience where they are, and they're increasingly on mobile and online."
