Disney's latest animated adventure Moana is set to hit the same numbers in its opening two days as Frozen.
The animated adventure about a Polynesian princess is the frontrunner at the US box office, making NZ$14 million across the country on Thanksgiving Day - matching the pace of Disney's 2013 smash hit.
Moana, which stars Dwayne Johnson as the voice of Polynesian demigod Maui, received an 'A' Cinemascore from audiences and has a 97 percent fresh rating on rating aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes.
It's on track to hit NZ$120 to NZ$125 million during the four-day holiday break in the US.
Frozen went on to earn NZ$1.7 billion globally.
The Warner Bros Harry Potter spin off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them finished a close second, taking in $13.5 million across the US on Thanksgiving Day.
Moana hits Kiwi cinemas on December 26.
