If you didn't find Luc Besson's The Fifth Element grand or bizarre enough, Valerian is for you.
The first trailer for the French filmmaker's 2017 sci-fi has just been released and it is visually astounding; a minute-and-a-half clip packed with weird aliens and fantastic, futuristic worlds. And Rihanna.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is the full title of the French comic series adaptation, which follows a pair of interstellar operatives as they enforce peace in the universe.
The pair is played by Dane DeHaan (Metallica Through the Never) and Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad), while Rihanna features as is a blonde alien. The supporting cast includes Clive Owen, John Goodman and Ethan Hawke.
Valerian and Laureline will head to a metropolis known as Alpha, a city that features 17 million humans and aliens from across the galaxy as the ultimate symbol of peace and unity - as someone is attempting to destroy what's been built there.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is set for release in July, 2017.
