A sequel to Deadpool is set to be released in March 2018, but now it seems a third film, Deadpool 3 is already being planned by 20th Century Fox.
The company is said be searching for a director for Deadpool 3, rumoured to involve another popular group in the X-Men mythos, X-Force, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The latest in the main X-Men franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, was outperformed by Deadpool - which roped in over US$782 million worldwide off a budget of US$58 million.
Apocalypse earned US$542 million off a budget of US$178 million.
Recently, director Tim Miller walked off the Deadpool sequel, citing creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds. His replacement is yet to be announced, but reports suggest John Wick's David Leitch is the frontrunner.
Miller and Reynolds reportedly disagreed over the balance of comedy and narrative in the sequel, with the Green Lantern star preferring amplified comedy elements and keeping it low-budget, as he likes the scaled-back feel during production.
