Former The Brady Bunch star Susan Olsen has been fired from her job as a radio host in Los Angeles after posting a homophobic rant on Facebook.

The 55-year-old former child star attacked gay actor Leon Acord-Whiting in an expletive-filled message, after chatting with him on her LA Talk Radio show.

Olsen posted her message in after Acord-Whiting published his own Facebook attack on her, accusing the host of being a "Trump fanatic" and spreading "outrageous misinformation".

In her reply, Olsen labelled the Old Dogs & New Tricks actor a "little piece of human waste", lamenting she wasn't able to "get one hit in" on him.

Escalating her response, Olsen allegedly sent Acord-Whiting a private message, which labelled him a "little pussy" and a "snake in the grass", and made several homophobic insults.

She also claimed she had a larger penis than Acord-Whiting, and ended the message by wishing he'd meet his karma "slowly and painfully".

Olsen's former employer, LA Talk Radio, released a statement saying it takes pride in its relationship with the LGBT community.

"We will not tolerate hateful speech by anyone associated with our radio station and have severed our ties with a host that veered off the direction in which we are going," the station said.

A petition has since been started on change.org to get Olsen back on the air. It currently has 41 supporters.
