Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds may be farewelled in a joint memorial service.
Fisher, 60, and her mum Reynolds, 84, died earlier this week just a day apart.
Todd Fisher - Reynolds' son and Fisher's brother - says a joint service would be "appropriate".
"It's what we want to do, but we're still working on the mechanics," he told the New York Daily News.
"We like the idea, if it's at all possible. I think it's appropriate."
Todd also posted a cartoon of the pair on Twitter, calling their relationship a "beautiful love story".
The image, by artist Ricky LaChance, shows Fisher and Reynolds as their most iconic characters - Fisher as Princess Leia from Star Wars and Reynolds as Kathy Selden from Singin' in the Rain.
The date and location of any memorials for the pair haven't been confirmed.
A documentary about the pair will premiere on HBO in the US on January 7. It has previously screened to critical acclaim at festivals in New York and Cannes.
The Hollywood cinema which premiered Star Wars in 1977 - Grauman's Chinese Theatre - "went dark for a few moments" to honour Fisher, Todd said on Twitter.
