Debbie Reynolds, the mother of Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher, has reportedly been rushed to hospital a day after the death of her daughter.

The 84-year-old actress was at home in Los Angeles when she suffered what TMZ is reporting as a 'medical emergency' and 'possible stroke'.

The gossip website has published video of an ambulance leaving the home of her son, Todd Fisher, where she was said to be discussing funeral plans for Carrie.

Debbie became famous with her lead role in 1952's Singin' in the Rain, before starring in many more films, Broadway shows and her own TV show.

Most famous for her role as Princess Leia, Carrie died on Wednesday aged 60 after suffering a heart attack on December 23.

She had a famously complicated relationship with her mother, widely believed to be reflected in Postcards from the Edge, the 1990 movie based on Carrie's semi-autobiographical novel of the same name.

Debbie has reportedly been distraught ever since she was informed of Carrie's heart attack.
