Tiny kitten rescued from Melbourne dumpster

A stray kitten which found itself in a tight squeeze has been rescued from a Melbourne dumpster thanks to the inventive use of olive oil.

The Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade were called to Keilor Park by the SPCA, after they were unable to free the kitten.

The kitten, who has been nicknamed 'Brian' after one of the rescuers, had to be sedated and covered in olive oil before it could be slowly pulled from a pipe at the bottom of the bin.

It was tired and dehydrated after his ordeal, and has been taken to the vet for a check-up.
