Crowd breaks into Maori waiata at Tauranga reggae concert

An international reggae artist brought a Tauranga crowd back to its roots with a mass sing-along to a waiata many of us learned at primary school - E Papa Waiari.

Musician Fiji, real name George Veikoso, was playing the One Love Festival at Tauranga Domain on Saturday night when he led the crowd in the spontaneous waiata.

The video, shot by one of his team, has been shared widely on social media.

In it, the crowd is heard cheering and then begin singing in harmony.

Fiji just one of many artists who played the two-day festival, including Che Fu, Katchafire, Aaradhna, Kings, Three Houses Down, Sons of Zion and Six60.
