Ed Sheeran has returned from a year's break with two new singles - and a fresh love for New Zealand.
The 26-year-old British singer took a Kiwi gap year, bungy jumping in Queenstown and being flown around on one of Peter Jackson's planes.
In an interview with UK tabloid Daily Star, Sheeran said he wanted to become a New Zealand citizen.
"I did ask for citizenship and I think we got an email from someone involved with that. So maybe that's going to happen. I could be a citizen", the Shape of You singer said.
"I've always said that if a world war breaks out, the one place I would go to is New Zealand because no one is going to be bothered to come that far to invade. They'll be like, 'Ah, we'll leave them be.'"
In December 2015, Sheeran posted on Instagram that he was taking a break from his phone, emails and all social media.
"I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes, so I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed."
Speaking to BBC Radio 1 in January, Sheeran spoke about his time visiting Kiwi director Peter Jackson and his family.
"Peter Jackson, the guy that does the Lord of the Rings films, he collects World War I planes. He strapped me to the front of one of them standing up and then flew me around."
Jackson has an extensive collection of WWI fighter planes that he displays at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre near Blenheim.
"He's got a load of them, he's got a museum he has them all in. That was in May, June."
Despite a fear of heights, Sheeran also took part in a bungy jump with Jackson's daughter Katie.
"I was in Queenstown and they were like, 'Shall we go on a bungy jump?' so I said 'I guess... when in Rome.'
"But I'm terrified of heights, and last minute everyone said, 'Okay yeah, I'm not up for it,' but I thought, 'Oh god, I'm going to do it, see if it cures my fear of heights.'"
