Guns N' Roses booed after greeting Melbourne concert as 'Sydney'

Rockers Guns N' Roses have been booed at their latest concert after greeting the Melbourne crowd as … "Sydney".

Singer Axl Rose had already tested the patience of the 70,000 MCG crowd on Tuesday night by keeping them waiting an hour.

When they finally took to the stage they were greeted by a raucous welcome – but this quickly evaporated and turned to boos when the band got the city they were in wrong.

"You're in Melbourne," yelled one crowd member as the rockers burst into opening song It's So Easy and fireworks lit up the stage, Fairfax Australia reported.

Audience members have also complained about poor sound quality at the concert, the band's first Melbourne performance since 1993.

The concert was trending on Twitter on Tuesday night – a tough welcome to the jungle for the geographically challenged rock gods.
