Max Key is not giving up on the spotlight and wants to make it big on the music charts.

The 21-year-old son of former prime minister John Key has released his new track 'All The Way' with a music video shot in Fiji, he's also posed shirtless for Woman's Day and spoken out against the haters.

Key told the magazine, "I want to be the best in the world", and said Justin Bieber is his style inspiration. He also has his sights set on performing in Europe.

He told the magazine it's not exactly fame that he's after, he just wants people to enjoy his music.

He also took the opportunity to call out his critics, telling the magazine that people judged him for being his father's son.

"At the start, no one thought I did anything. 'Get a job!' I was actually at university, still working, being me ... but it pissed people off because they thought I sat at home, living off Dad."

Key wants people to judge his music on its own merits, and to stop associating him with his famous father.

He reckons that people would still say "this sucks" about his music, even if he put out something that was made by a famous musician because they've already made up their minds about him.

The music video for 'All The Way'  featuring Carla Wehbe is filmed on Fiji's Treasure Island and features Key exploring the picturesque island with a companion. Key co-directed and co-edited the video.

He also maintains a strong social media presence across Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook.
