Motor racing star Jamie Whincup has called off his upcoming lavish wedding just days out from the big day.
It's believed he made the call to end his long-term relationship with Courtney Nicholson a day after his bachelor party, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The nuptials were planned for the end of the V8 racing season in early December. They couple had been together since 2010.
Wedding plans were at an advanced stage with the ceremony and reception fully paid for.
Nicholson was said to have been blindsided by the decision, having bought her dream dress.
It was also a decision which surprised many friends of the man described as "very private".
One friend told the Daily Telegraph the "few people he does confide in didn't even see this coming".
The six-time V8 champion confirmed the wedding was over, saying it was a mutual decision.
"We are just two people who have decided not to be together any more and that's all I can say about it really," Whincup said.
"In terms of my personal life I prefer to keep that private."
Nicholson said she "would prefer not to tell my story".
