Actor Bill Paxton died from a stroke 11 days after heart surgery, according to his death certificate.
The document obtained by celebrity new website TMZ says Paxton's death was triggered by an aneurysm that required surgery which resulted in a fatal stroke. The surgery was to replace a heart valve and repair damage to his aorta, the main artery carrying bloody around the body.
The Terminator and Titanic actor died on February 25 (local time), 11 days after surgery.
He was 61 when he died.
The actor was known for some blockbuster films like Aliens and Titanic, as well as playing a bigamist on HBO's Big Love.
Celebrities were quick to pay tribute to Paxton soon after his death. Tom Hanks said he was "simply, a wonderful man. A wonderful man."
Titanic director James Cameron said news of the death had left him reeling.
"Bill leaves such a void. He and I were close friends for 36 years, since we met on the set of a Roger Corman ultra-low budget movie.
"We quickly recognised the creative spark in each other and became fast friends."
