Former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson was arrested after an airport brawl, which saw him allegedly take two people to the ground in the scuffle.

Video published by RadarOnline shows Tomlinson trying to block a photographer during the fight on Friday (local time), before grabbing him and saying something inaudible.

When he leaves, he drops what appears to be his phone, bending down to pick it up before the photographer trips over him and they are both sent flying.

"Excuse me, what is happening here?" Tomlinson is heard saying as he picks himself up and heads towards another scuffle.

At a seated area, a woman in a grey sweatshirt and another dressed identically to Tomlinson - believed to be ex-girlfriend Eleanor Calder - are fighting in a corner.

"Can we have some help?" Tomlinson can be heard yelling as he runs towards where Calder was pinned against a wall by the woman in the grey top.

All three end up on the floor, before a woman with a badge separates them.

Tomlinson's lawyer, Martin Singer, says the fight was provoked by paparazzi.

"The paparazzi provoked and caused the altercation that occurred with Louis at the airport this morning," he told TMZ.

"While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during this incident, and he came to her defence."

The 'Just Hold On' singer was released on a US$20,000 bond after he was arrested and has been told to return to court at the end of March.

Tomlinson and Calder were believed to have been returning to Los Angeles after a holiday in Las Vegas.

The duo dated for three years before their 2015 split, but are believed to have rekindled their romance.
