Possibility of more Star Wars films? Very high

Star Wars fans, this is the news you've been looking for: Disney's planning at least another decade-and-a-half of movies set a long time ago, in a galaxy far away.

"We're starting talk about what could happen after Episode IX. About what could be another decade-and-a-half of Star Wars stories," CEO Bob Iger said at a talk in Santa Monica.

It's not clear whether he meant yet another trilogy of films focusing on the Skywalker clan, or more standalone spinoffs, like Rogue One or the upcoming Han Solo movie.

Mr Iger also discussed the gaping hole Carrie Fisher's death leaves in the franchise. Her scenes for Episode VII: The Last Jedi are in the can, but the film apparently won't be changed.

"We had to deal with tragedy at the end of 2016. Carrie appears throughout VIII. We are not changing VIII to deal with her passing. Her performance remains as it is in VIII

"In Rogue One, we had some digital character. We are not doing that with Carrie."

It suggests however VIII ends, Princess Leia won't be making an appearance in IX.

The Last Jedi is out in December, while the Han Solo movie is scheduled for May 2018.
