Indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara have been forced to cancel what would have been their first-ever New Zealand show due to ill health.
The Canadian twins were set to perform at Auckland's Bruce Mason Theatre next Saturday night as part of their Australia and New Zealand tour.
But they have had to cancel after Tegan fell ill at the end of their European tour.
"Even while taking antibiotics and steroids, I still lost my voice completely. After a second round of antibiotics and steroids upon returning home last week, I still have not recovered my voice or received a clean bill of health," she said in a statement.
The 'Closer' hitmakers say they can count the number of shows they've had to cancel in their 17 years "on one hand" and have apologised to those affected.
"To fans who have made travel plans and those who will be disappointed to hear this news, please know that we will be missing you all this coming week and promise to make it up to you soon," they said.
The stars, both openly gay and iconic members of the LGBT community, were due to perform as part of their Love You To Death world tour, promoting their eighth studio album which was released last year.
The Australian leg of the tour, which would have seen them performing across the country including at Melbourne Zoo and Taronga Zoo, has also been cancelled.
Next Saturday's concert would have been their first full show in New Zealand.
Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.
