The Bachelor NZ 2017: Taylar Saunders' departure

Taylar Saunders departed from The Bachelor mansion on Monday night, utterly eclipsing fellow evictee Steph, in an episode that was the living incarnation of the phrase "shots fired".

Taylar was originally the show's favourite 'crazy gal'. She had a passion for competitiveness, wild eyed expressions and a penchant for interrupting every private moment Zac had - with the possible exception of his bathroom breaks.

But after her eviction, she's gone cool on him, admitting she'd miss the girls more.

As for Taylar and Zac's single, rose-free date: "I definitely felt a spark on our date, but obviously - two different people..." she trails off.

There are certainly things left unsaid between the two, Taylar believes.

"I did want to say to him I actually missed my brother's wedding, I expected a lot more - but you can't see into the future."

She chalks it up to Zac maybe not understanding her sense of humour.  Of course, perhaps a date in the middle of a deserted Eden Park with a TV camera also might not be the most relaxing of settings.

When it comes to her future man, Taylar remains hopeful.

In keeping with other evictees, when asked to play the game 'Marry one, kill one, shag one' with all three of the Bachelors  she chose to kill series 2's Jordan Mauger, marry series 1's Art Green - and shag Zac.

But her choice between Zac, Gerry Brownlee and Kim Dotcom was more controversial. In perhaps the most revealing comment ever to be made publicly about the Earthquake Recovery Minister, Taylar asked, "can I put a paper bag over his head and shag him?"

Dotcom was swiftly bumped off and Zac was married happily.

But there is no secret blossoming romance between Taylar and Gerry: "I'm single!" she says, laughing and putting her hand up, "date me!"

Monday night's episode also revealed that Taylar wasn't the main cat in the increasingly claws-out crew.

Katey has knocked her off the top spot. And Taylar couldn't be happier about that.

"All that pressure of being the mean girl has gone from me to someone else - so I feel good about it!"

Katey certainly made her feelings known in last night's episode, calling Taylar out for being too competitive in rugby. But none of that bothered Taylar, she just attributes to the spat to Katey's insecurity.

"It wasn't hurtful it was just like, well OK, you must feel intimidated."

Is she intimidating? Well, she doesn't think so. But we have to remember this is The Bachelor. Those girls could see the cicadas in the garden as competition for their man.

Taylar remains quiet on whether it was a tough atmosphere, simply saying it was a mix of different personalities. However, she was more emphatic when asked if she wished she could have shouted at some of the girls.

Yes. Who? "I think we all know who I'm talking about!"

We sure do, Katey.
