Ten-year-old drummer wins Denmark's Got Talent

A 10-year-old drummer is the 2017 champion of Denmark's Got Talent after taking out the final by performing a ballad of Danish rock songs.

Johanne Astrid Poulsen performed during the finale with Danish rock band D-A-D and didn't expect to win the competition.

"I promise you, I got a shock. I thought it might be wrong," she told Denmark's TV2.

She's won $250,000 Danish Kroner (about NZ$51,000).

Johanne hopes to play more places around the world, or join a band, but the only thing she knows for sure is that she wants to play drums when she grows up.

"It's liberating to see a girl with so much talent in an otherwise guy dominated drumming world," Danish drummer Mark Falgren told Denmark's TV2.

"I've heard her play a few times, and she has impressed me. She has a well-developed technique that you rarely see in people her age."

Johanne also played tunes from Rage Against The Machine and Led Zeppelin during the competition.
