Faye Dunaway, one of those responsible for the infamous 'Envelope Gate' at the 2017 Academy Awards, has opened up about what went down that night.
Dunaway was co-presenting with Warren Beatty and she was the one who accidentally called out La La Land, instead of Moonlight, for the Best Picture Award.
"[Beatty] took the card out, and he didn't say anything. He paused, he looked over me, off-stage, he looked around, and I finally said, 'You're impossible.' I thought he was joking! A dramatic pause," she told NBC Nightly News on Monday (local time).
The mix-up was later attributed to two PwC accountants, who had handed the presenters the wrong envelope backstage, but Dunaway still feels guilty about the incident.
"I was very guilty, I could have done something surely," she told NBC Nightly News.
"Why didn't I see Emma Stone's name on the top of the card?"
She said she and Beatty were "completely stunned" and didn't know what was happening.
"The presenters had mistakenly been given the wrong category envelope and when discovered, was immediately corrected," PwC said in a statement after the mix-up.
