A prison sentence isn't enough to keep Abby Lee Miller from TV cameras as a judge has approved her travelling around the US for paid television appearances.

The Dance Moms star sobbed in court earlier this month as she was sentenced to just over a year for fraud.

Miller, 50, will start serving her time behind bars next month - but not before making money talking about it.

Documents obtained by tabloids show the judge agreed to let Miller travel from Los Angeles to New York for three paid television appearances that were agreed to before she was sentenced.

The interviews were set to be filmed this week and Miller had been instructed by the judge to be back in LA no later than Saturday, May 20 (local time).

In addition to one year and one day in prison, Miller must undergo supervision for another two years and pay US$160,000 in fines.
