Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson may be a Hollywood star, but he certainly hasn't forgotten his roots.

The actor, who grew up in New Zealand, has taken to Instagram to tell followers to embrace their inner mana.

The Fast and Furious star is pictured alongside four children with drawn-on Polynesian tattoos, matching his own.

He says: "Teach 'em young. Embrace your warrior mana (spirit). We all have it, we just have to understand how to tap into it."

It's not the first time Johnson has acknowledged his Kiwi background. Last year he led a haka scene in the eighth instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise.

He called it the most "real and authentic" part of the entire film, and said it required "no acting".

Johnson also used his role in Disney film Moana to showcase his Polynesian side.

Earlier this week Johnson said he was considering running for president.
