Little Mix star emotional over New Zealand return

It's going to be an emotional back to our shores for Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, who called New Zealand home during her childhood.

Edwards lived in New Zealand for two years from the age of 11; starting at a Tamahere school before moving to Hamilton with her Kiwi stepfather.

"I used to, actually, do Kapa Haka. I'm, well I was alright. I can still count to ten in Maori," the 23-year-old told Fairfax.

"I absolutely loved it."

She joined pop group Little Mix on the X Factor UK. The girl group will be performing their first and only New Zealand show in Auckland as part of their Glory Days tour in July.

Edwards said she hadn't returned to New Zealand since moving, and was excited for her first trip back.

"It's going to be surreal."

Edwards also spoke about one of the group's most successful tunes, 'Shout Out To My Ex', about her broken engagement to ex-One Direction star Zayn Malik.

"We all find in the studio to be a kind of therapy session. We all get around and talk about what's going on with our lives," she said.
