Paul Walker remembered in emotional MTV Movie Awards tribute

Vin Diesel paid an emotional tribute to his late co-star Paul Walker as the cast of the Fast and the Furious films accepted the Generation Award for their film franchise.

Deisel and his co-stars Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Tyrese Gibson accepted the award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday night (Local time).

During the acceptance speech, Diesel said, "In 2002, I was standing on this stage, and MTV had given Paul Walker and I an award for Best Duo. And now, 15 years later, I'm with my whole family, and you're giving us the Generation Award."

He also thanked audiences for embracing the cast as their own during the film franchise's 15 year run.

"Most importantly, I got to thank our generation. I got to to thank, a generation that was willing to accept this multicultural franchise where it didn't matter what colour your skin was or what country you are from, when you're family, you're family," said the actor.

A speech on behalf of the cast wouldn't have been complete without the 49-year-old actor paying homage to his late pal Paul Walker, whom he referred to by his set nickname Pablo.

"I could never stand on the stage and talk about Fast and Furious without giving love to my brother, Pablo, our brother Pablo, we hope you are proud, thank you so much."

Paul Walker was killed in a car accident in 2013.
