Jennifer Lawrence is "not pretty enough" to play Sharon Tate in an upcoming film about the Manson Family murders, according to the slain star's sister.

Quentin Tarantino has reportedly eyed both Jennifer and Margot Robbie for the role of Sharon in his upcoming film about the infamous Hollywood murder.

Debra Tate, 64, reportedly told TMZ she doesn't think Jennifer is "pretty enough" to play her sister and would prefer Margot take the role.

"That's a horrible thing to say, but I have my standards. My pick would be Margot simply because of her physical beauty," Tate said.

"And the way she even carries herself is similar to that of Sharon."

Sharon, who starred in 1967's Valley Of The Dolls, was aged 26 and eight months pregnant when she and four others were murdered in her home by members of the Manson Family in 1969.

Her husband, director Roman Polanski, was away.
