Samsung launches TV which looks like a picture

Ever thought that goggle box in your lovingly designed living space was a bit of an eyesore? Now you can hide it in plain sight.

Samsung's 'The Frame' is a new 4K Ultra HD TV which doubles as art you can proudly hang on your wall.

"Technology should enhance our daily lives, without being obtrusive," said Jens Anders, sales director for Consumer Electronics Samsung NZ.

"The beauty of The Frame is that it blends in to your existing interior décor when it isn't being used like a conventional TV."

The TV comes in both 65-inch and 55-inch sizes with a charcoal black edge which looks like a frame. Other frames can also be bought separately.

When not in use as a normal Smart Hub TV, 'The Frame' switches to Art mode, where people can admire more than 100 pieces of artwork by renowned artists.

The Frame can also showcase personal content, including photos, which can be controlled via a phone app.

This smart TV is clever in other ways. It's also equipped with a motion sensor so if there's no one in the room, it switches off so it's not wasting energy.

Of course, such fancy techology doesn't come cheap. It's currently available from Noel Leeming and Harvey Norman with prices starting from $3999.

That said, it does bring an entire art gallery into a home.
