Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, is working on a new Netflix series about a booze-addled princess living in a crumbling medieval kingdom known as Dreamland.

Disenchantment is set to feature Abbi Jacobson of Broad City and Eric Andre of The Eric Andre Show, with a premiere next year.

"Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you," Groening said in a statement.

Following the launch of The Simpsons in 1987, Groening branched out with Futurama, a comedy set in a super high-tech world in which people's personal development hadn't kept up. With Disenchantment, it appears he'll turn his brand of humour to a Game of Thrones-style fantasy.
