Jurassic World Evolution to put players in charge of their own dinosaur park

If you've always wanted to design a dinosaur theme park like those featured in the Jurassic Park films, you're probably about to be very happy.

Jurassic World Evolution is being developed from Frontier Developments, the studio behind Planet Coaster and Elite: Dangerous, and is officially licensed by Universal Pictures.

The game will allow players to construct attractions, containment and research facilities, as well as bioengineer new dinosaur breeds.

"As long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series we're thrilled to be putting players in charge of their own Jurassic World," says Frontier's Chief Creative Officer, Jonny Watts.

"We're excited to bring over 15 years of management, simulation, and creature development expertise to a destination and franchise that remains an inspiration to us."

Jurassic World Evolution was announced with a teaser trailer that includes a cinematic presentation of a Tyrannosaurus rex breaking out of an enclosure and attacking humans and other dinosaurs - suggesting it won't just be a top-down theme park simulator that doesn't emphasise decent graphics.

It's set for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC mid-2018, to coincide with the release of the next film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
