Leatherface trailer looks scary as hell

It's been more than 40 years since the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was released and after all the disappointing sequels and reboots, an upcoming prequel looks like it could finally deliver the scary goods.

Leatherface follows the horror movie icon's childhood, which looks to include violence, time in a mental institution and being given a chainsaw for his birthday.

"In the early days of the infamous Sawyer family, the youngest child is sentenced to a mental hospital after a suspicious incident leaves the sheriff's daughter dead. Ten years later, he kidnaps a young nurse and escapes with three other inmates," says the official synopsis.

"Pursued by authorities including the deranged sheriff out to avenge his daughter's death, the young Sawyer teen goes on a violent road trip from hell, molding him into the monster known now as Leatherface."

The film is directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, who were behind the gory hit of 2007, Inside.

Leatherface will be released in October.

The new trailer follows an explicit red band trailer, which was released last month and is viewable below - viewer discretion is advised.
