Disney is in the early stages of developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi prequel for its ever-expanding Star Wars universe.
Multiple reports say the company is in the early stages of development on the film and is in talks with Stephen Daldry, the director of Billy Elliot.
Kenobi featured in the first six Star Wars films, portrayed by Alec Guinness in Episodes IV - VI and then by Ewan McGregor in Episodes I - III.
Additionally, his adventures between Episodes III and IV have been explored in Star Wars comics and in the Rebels animated TV show.
McGregor has stated publicly that he wants to reprise the role, although there are no reports of his involvement with the new film.
Since buying Star Wars in 2012, Disney has been planning to release one film per year after its first, 2015's Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
Following last year's Rogue One, this year sees the release of Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, before the Han Solo film is released in 2018 and Episode IX in 2019.
The 2020 film has not yet been officially announced, but it's believed that year would see the release of the Han Solo movie.
